The one thing we cannot live without….Breath.
As I witnessed the miracle of birth, I realized, life is all about breath. The mom breathing the new little being through the birth canal, the infant taking her first breath.
We breathe all the time. It is an unconscious activity our life depends on. We hold our breath in stress, gasp for breath in excitement. We slow the breath in peace. We focus on breath in meditation.
Our life on earth begins with an inhalation and ends with an exhalation. How many breaths have we taken while on this planet?
We use breath to move energy through our physical body, we use our breath to blow out candles on a birthday cake in celebration of yet another year.
We hold our breath as we feel the warm ocean water surround us. We have machines to help us breathe, a regulator for scuba diving and life machines while sick and the body cannot breathe on its own.
We control our breath in breath of fire during yoga class and allow our breath to take over while resting in a deep sleep.
